LAKEVILLE, CT (August 14, 2023) — Sacrilege Motors, a bespoke performance, restoration and electric-conversion studio, is proud to announce a partnership with powertrain supplier Fellten. Based in Bristol, UK, Fellten is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of systems used in converting classic cars into electric vehicles.
Fellten’s state-of-the-art electric powertrains have been recognized for their outstanding performance and reliability by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), who have named Fellten a Tier 1 supplier. Fellten has engineered EV-conversion systems for a variety of classic brands and models, starting with the Porsche 911, and has worked with leading film studios to convert featured motion-picture cars to all-electric power. Fellten is the only EV powertrain supplier approved by BMW for the Classic Mini Recharged project. Sacrilege Motors is also working with Fellten on cutting-edge electric powertrain development projects that will be exclusive to Sacrilege Motors.
For its first commission, Sacrilege Motors has restored, performance-tuned and EV-converted a Porsche 911 America Roadster, a U.S. version of the Carrera 2 Cabriolet Turbo-look, and one of 250 built. Named BLACKBIRD by its owner in honor of the supersonic SR-71 Blackbird aircraft, the commission will debut during Monterey Car Week, on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
“With our Porsche 911 commissions, we’ve set very demanding performance and reliability targets,” Bobby Singh, president and technical lead of Sacrilege Motors, said. “Fellten hits those targets completely. They build their system like an OEM would—the way it’s engineered, designed and blueprinted—allowing us to focus on the driving dynamics, and on maintaining the soul of these classic Porsche 911s.”
“Staying true to the spirit of the original 911 is paramount for us, Sacrilege Motors CEO Phil Wagenheim said, “and Fellten will help us preserve the classic feel of the Porsches we restore. They are setting the standard for the industry, and will be an important technical partner in the future development of Sacrilege Motors conversion projects.”
“With our Porsche 911 powertrain system, we were very particular about keeping the weight distribution the same,” Chris Hazell, CEO of Fellten, said. “Otherwise you’re changing the handling characteristics, and that’s not a Porsche. At Sacrilege Motors, they have a passion and a love of the car, and they know Porsche 911s so well. They do what they do best, restoring and modifying a legend, and we do what we do best, developing the best power system—and when you put the two together, it’s magical.”
Sacrilege Motors was founded in 2020 by finance entrepreneur and corporate CEO Phil Wagenheim and Porsche expert driver and tuner Bobby Singh, who brings three decades of experience restoring, building and tuning elite Porsche sports cars, including the 959, Carrera GT, 918 Spyder, and Porsche Cup cars. Wagenheim and Singh, who are both passionate owners and drivers of air-cooled Porsche 911s, caught the Porsche bug early, enchanted by the analog feel and precise handling of a classic 911. Their mission is to create the most captivating EV-conversion Porsche 911s available. Some might call such conversion work heresy, but others welcome the act of retaining the classic 911’s uniquely enjoyable driving dynamics, while reducing its need for maintenance and environmental impact. Sacrilege Motors delivers a Porsche 911 with all of the instant power of an EV, and the familiarity of the Porsche 911 driving experience.
